For many years, the Maryland Historic Trust has manintained an inventory of "historic" properties. At one time, the Baltimore County Code used this list to provide some protection. Any demolition request for one of these properties required a process which then gave time for interested parties to argue against its demoliton and provided the opportunity to go through the Landmarks process to permanently preserve it. At the State's request, this restriction ended, as the inventory was never intended to be used in this way. As a result, the inventory, while an interesting list, provides no protection whatsoever. Being listed does not mean that a property is "historic".
There are many such properties in the Kingsville area which have not been advanced to the "Landmarks" status because of the lack of efforts by local residents. Following is a list of the more significant ones:
