Metropolitan District

The Metropolitan District was formed in 1924 as the legal entity which could operate a multi-jurisdictional water and sewer system. The bounds of the District essentially define the limits of where water service could be provided, but it still requires significant legislative steps to actually do so. In Baltimore County, most of the Metropolitan District boundary is the same as the URDL. The most significant deviation is Kingsville, which is entirely outside the URDL but entirely inside the District. This does not have any particular significance for the future.

One side-effect of this District is that the discharging of weapons (guns or crossbows) is prohibited inside the Metropolitan District. That means that, even with a hunting license or on one's private property, hunting is not allowed within the Kingsville area (except with a traditional bow). (Well, "hunting" is allowed, you just can't shoot anything. Better take a camera!)
