Code Enforcement Improvement Work Group

This work group was created by County Executive Johnny "O" and co-chaired by Mike Mallinoff (Director of PAI at the time, but now gone) and Izzy Patoka (2nd District Councilman).

Its duties were given as:

  • Review budget
  • Review contracts
  • Land use authority
  • Constituent services
and the purpose to examine:
  • Our service and how can we improve
  • Derelict properties
  • Technical equipment
  • Inspections of multi-family units over 6 units
  • Rat eradication using new methods (carbon monoxide)
  • Evening and weekend inspections
  • Legislation passed for clothing donation boxes that will go into effect July 1, 2020 (since delayed until July 1, 2021)

According to the Final Report, there were "three work group meetings". Minutes were supposedly written for the following four meetings, but they quickly became unavailable from the County website:

Although 3 participants, including one work group member, raised the issue of CE's failure to properly use the online system (Acella) to document actions taken, thus depriving the public of knowing what had happened on a case, nothing about this was included in the Final Report or Results. In most cases, the solution is obvious and easy.
